Apogees Trak2
is a rare breed of audio interface that actually smooths the signal as it goes
in, in a way that captures your tracks whether they be vox, drums or
screaming guitars that is super rich and warm. Recordings done through the
Trak2 dont sound digital or weak (something that is sometimes complained
about by people attempting to switch from tape to digital).
Super Sweet Sound from a Single Rack Space
With Apogees award-winning 2-channel, 24/96k Trak2 A/D converter, you can have everything you need for a
high-quality digital session, all in one compact single-unit rack space. The
Trak2 features a phenomenal mic preamp, amazing digital conversion capabilities
and is fully expandable to give you any digital interface you might need. Trak2
is not only one of the best sounding digital interfaces out there, but also one
of the most flexible. Apogee also makes the Mini-Me, a USB-connected recording interface, which features the same preamps as the Trak2.

A Pre-amp So Good Itll Make You Weep
At the front of the Trak2 is a discrete microphone
preamplifier which stacks up favorably against the best-known mic pres available.
Accessible via either the rear panel XLRs or the front-panel universal XLR/TRS
connectors, the sound of this preamp will make you want to use it on every
session, whether analog or digital. The preamp also accepts hi-Z instrument
inputs at the front panel, for maximum versatility. Just plug into the front
panel and the Trak2 will recognize your input automatically. An insert point is included to
provide an analog output or to allow the insertion of analog processors into the Trak2 signal path.
From the analog stage, the signal passes to the very latest
in A/D conversion technology from Apogees award-winning engineering design team.
The 2-channel, 24-bit A/D operates at 44.1, 48, 88.2 and 96 kHz with a dynamic
range in excess of 117 dB and an overall level of quality exceeding that of
systems costing several times the price. The A/D also includes Apogees renowned
Soft Limit process, which maximizes recording level without overs; and the return
of Apogees unique Soft Saturate system, which simulates analog tape compression.
Either feature can be switched in and out on one or both channels.
Trak2 is Versatile
This tasty device has a built-in AES-S/PDIF output, plus two Apogee
Multimedia Bus (AMBus) slots, so you can connect the Trak2 to a wide variety of
industry standard interfaces including Digidesigns Pro Tools, ADAT, TDIF,
SDIF-II, SSL HiWay, and others. Some cards support Apogee Bit-Splitting, which lets you to use standard 44.1/48,
16-bit recorders to store 20-, 24-bit, and even 96 kHz signals.
The Trak2
features the latest version of the Apogee Ultra-Low Jitter Clock, used to lock
the unit to incoming digital or video signals and virtually remove jitter. Also
included is the latest incarnation of Apogee«s industry-standard UV22 system for
digital word-length reduction, UV22 HR (High Resolution), which takes a
high-resolution digital signal and reduces the word-length to 16 or 20
bits for CD or DVD-V mastering and Internet applications while maintaining 24-bit
detail.
Add a D/A
The Trak2 includes a special slot so you can add a 2-channel or
8-channel D/A card with the right specs to turn the Trak2 into a complete digital
audio conversion system with two A/D channels and up to 8 D/A channels.

Trak2 Worship
From
the moment the Trak 2 was in service in my studio, my recordings have taken on an
extraordinary quality, says Clif Magness, writer/producer. Ive
used it with vocals, acoustic guitars, bass guitar, and my Yamaha grand piano.
Some of the projects have included Avril Lavignes new album, Kelly Clarkson, The
Calling, and Clay Aiken. The overall sonic result is smooth, airy, & more
realistic, its just as if I was in the room with the band and the vocalist.
Ive always really liked the Apogee stuff, says Matt
Still, engineer for OutKast, Elton John, Little Richard and others. The
Trak2 is a great unit.
