Logic for Pro Tools: TDM Enabler
If you want to use Logic with a Pro Tools system, you will need to get the TDM bundle. You will have to have a working Pro Tools system and a copy of Logic Platinum 5.5 or higher on Mac OS 9.

The Logic TDM Bundle comes with the Emagic System Bridge TDM, the Host TDM Enabler, and the PTHD (Pro Tools HD) extension in one package. With the PTHD extension for Logic, and a Pro Tools HD system, you can get up to 24-bit/192kHz sampling rates, and greater functionality of the EXS24 sampler and other software instruments and plug-ins.

Total Recall Mixing and Automation
Logic’s Arrange window introduces a refined track-based automation system, displaying automated parameters with full names and values for fast and optimal control over even the most complex automations, making software mixing both easy and intuitive.

Logic Platinum’s elegant new automation system seamlessly handles the mixing of audio and MIDI data, and calculates edits in realtime, including quantization, transposition, note length changes and more. You can zoom, solo or mix individual tracks, and create and recall markers to quickly jump over to any location within your song, and any production notes you have made for that section.

Logic lets you easily resize, solo, mute, loop and mix audio and MIDI objects in real time within the Arrange window, without ever stopping the sequencer, without ever stopping the sequencer.

Plug-in Processing
Logic’s fully automated effects system offers a fabulous new Channel EQ, with up to 8 sends per channel, each of which may address one of the available 64 busses, and up to 8 insert effects per track. Sends and inserts are also available for audio instruments, live inputs and auxiliary busses.

Logic Platinum includes over 50 built-in effects that can be used on audio tracks, live inputs, virtual instruments, busses, auxes and outputs. Logic and also fully supports Audio Units plug-ins. Hundreds of Customizable Key Commands
Every Logic Platinum song offers up to 90 screensets (customized combinations of edit windows). Each screenset recalls the type and size of window to be opened, the window’s positioning within the screen, as well as the zoom settings you have specified for audio or MIDI tracks with the custom-formatted window.

Logic features hundreds of customizable key commands — including Mac or MIDI keyboard shortcuts for almost every program function. So you can tailor it to fit your work style, by changing the default shortcuts to match those of the sequencer of your choice.

Logic Devotees
“The EXS24 sampler became quite an exciting thing for me on the last record,” says godfather of electronic music Rick Smith of Freur/Underworld. “It’s fun, straightforward, easy-to-use, and you get instant access to this vast library of stuff that always used to take hours to load up when we used AKAI. Now they seem really sad, compared to the way that the EXS24 works.”

“I use Logic Audio and I use the TDM plugins running off of the Pro Tools hardware in Logic,” says godfather of dub electronica, and mastermind of the breakbeat Jack Dangers (Meat Beat Manifesto, Tino Corp). “Logic is definitely the best sequencer around. Some people started out on StudioVision and moved over to Pro Tools, but I’ve always been a Logic user. I use Logic because it’s a lot quicker, more intuitive and it’s faster.”

Sound designer, composer, remixer and sonic warlord Richard Devine was summoned to L.A. to score two Nike commercials on set, using just Logic, a PowerBook and some headphones. “I had to fly out to Universal Studios,“ he says. “I did the whole thing in Logic Audio with another software sampler, Native Instrument’s Battery — it was completely done on that. It was just crazy,” he recalls.
